FAQs

  • Will it bite?

THIS IS THE MOST COMMON QUESTION THAT WE ARE ASKED! Anything with a mouth can bite. However, we make sure that both humans and animals remain safe at our events. As long as you follow our rules, the chances of you being bitten are being bitten are very low.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

We require a 14-day notice for any cancellations. In the event of illness, severe weather, or other emergencies, we will do our best to work with you on a rescheduled date!

  • Can I have a party at a park or a venue?

Please make sure to review the regulations for the park or venue, along with local ordinances regarding exotic animals. If you are unsure, we are happy to provide suggestions on how to find this information. We are unable to contact any municipality or venue on your behalf for an event.

  • Will you bring the alligator or big snakes?

Once events are booked, we always review both municipal and county ordinances to determine if we are able to bring particular species. We do make sure to observe all local regulations - this means that if crocodilians or Burmese pythons are prohibited where you plan to host your event, we are unable to bring them. In the event that we are unable to bring these animals, we will make sure to include alternative options!

  • How much time do you need to setup?

For the most part, our events run like clockwork. We have a very solid routine and can be ready to start pretty quickly once we arrive at your event. It typically takes us 10 minutes or less to set up, and we do our best to arrive early whenever possible.

  • Can we request specific animals or species?

You are always welcome to request individual animals or specific species, and we will do our best to honor those requests for your event. Please note that we are unable to provide any guarantee however - our animal availability is dependent on municipal/county ordinances, animal behavior and each reptile's individual health.

  • What if the kids or audience members are afraid?

It is absolutely normal to be fearful or anxious, especially if you have not encountered reptiles previously. However, in 99.999% of cases where we attend an event with a child or adult that is nervous to interact with one of our animals, they work up the courage to try holding or touching an animal by the end of the presentation. WPS Reptiles has a rule that we will never force anyone to interact with an animal if they are uncomfortable.

  • My child has a disability. Can you make adjustments to the presentation for them?

ABSOLUTELY. Bill Stewart holds an active Wisconsin license as a clinical social worker (more on that here) and is the owner/director of Impact Child & Family Therapies in Kenosha. He has an extensive background of working with children that have physical difficulties, emotional or behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders, and childhood trauma. Let us know what types of accommodations would be helpful and we are happy to make adjustments if needed!

  • Do you have insurance?

We absolutely carry an active commercial policy for liability insurance and can provide those details upon request.

  • Can I have the party outside?

We recommend only holding events outside if the ambient temperatures are between 70-85 degrees. If it is outside of those parameters, it might be too hot or cold for the animals and audience members to comfortably enjoy your event.

  • I'd like to have a particular theme for the presentation - is that something you can do?

We've been able to accommodate these requests in the past, such as insects or native species! To help us determine if we can build a presentation around your preferred theme, please send us an email with the details of your event. It is especially helpful if you provide as much advanced notice as possible for special requests!

  • Are the animals for sale?

The animals used in our presentations are owned by WPS Reptiles and when they are not at events, they are beloved pets of ours. While we cannot sell you our animals, we are always happy to discuss husbandry care practices if you are interested in obtaining your own pet, and recommendations of ethical breeders or rescues nearby.
